Mr. Roy M Bernards has been a Principal in the DeForest Area School District for the past fourteen years.  He led Yahara Elementary School for 4 years and Windsor Elementary School for 8, and is currently the principal of the district's intermediate school that he is helping to develop and design.  Prior to DeForest, Mr. Bernards worked in the Oregon School District where he was a history teacher and an Assistant Principal.  Mr. Bernards also led a private elementary school in Kunming, China for one year.  Mr. Bernards has a strong passion for students and "meeting kids where they are" and strives to build a collaborative culture with families, staff, and other professionals to accomplish this goal.
