Laura Emrick
Koshkonong Trails School Lead Teacher
Cambridge, WI
Laura Emrick became a teacher in 2014, after more than a decade of working in the field of science. She is the lead teacher at Koshkonong Trails Charter School, a project-based, 7-12 school authorized by the District of Cambridge. The school is located on an 80-acre, rural property (a working farm with ponds, prairies, woodlots, and animals).
She strives to offer high-quality, rigorous, authentic learning opportunities for students and place-based, experiential education built around conservation, stewardship, and agriculture. KT is a part of the Teton Science Place Network; a group of place-based schools sharing ideas and supporting rural teachers across the nation. Outside of school, Laura enjoys distance trail running, backpacking, reading, and any time spent in the woods.
